Homemade Vanilla Extract
Ingredients
700 ml vodka
6 vanilla pods
Method
1) Start, by placing your vodka in a sterile jar. I the cut my vanilla pods in half and pop in the vodka. Leave in a dark, cool room for 6 months. the longer you leave it the better the vanilla.
2) Start, by placing your vodka in a small saucepan (make sure you have the lid). Slice your vanilla and boil the vanilla and vodka for 25 minutes or until a lovely vanilla colour.
3) Place you sliced vanilla into your vodka and then into a slow cooker halfway full up the side of the jar with water. Slow cook for one hour. The colour should be very dark ad look intense.
