Coconut macroons
Ingredients
2 egg whites
80 g caster sugar
150 g desiccated coconut
150 g milk chocolate
Method
1) Before we begin, preheat your oven to 170 degrees Celsius/ 340 Fahrenheit/ gas mark 3.
2) Start by whisking your egg whites and sugar until the sugar has dissolved. This shouldn’t take too long - around 3-4 minutes. Once your sugar has dissolved, take a spatula and fold through the desiccated coconut.
3) This is it! It should come together into a mixture. Then, roll into balls around the size of a golf ball. Then place them onto your baking tray and pop them in the oven for around 12-15 minutes until the outer shell becomes toasted.
4) Allow them to cool for 20 minutes. Next, I use my tempering guide to temper my milk chocolate and take the tops of my macaroons and hold them and dunk the bottom. Then place them on greaseproof paper and allow them to set.
