Homemade Jam

 

Ingredients

200 g fresh fruit

200 g caster sugar or jam sugar

10 ml water

 

Method

Start, by placing your fresh fruit with your water into into a large saucepan and slowly simmer over a low heat until they become soft and start to break down.

Once your fruit is soft and starts to break down, pour over your sugar and turn up to a medium heat and allow to slowly boil.

Once your fruit and sugar are boiling, reduce to a simmer and allow to simmer for 5 minutes. The sugar should dissolve and the fruit should shrink. Allow to cool before placing in a sterile air tight jar. If you don't want your Jam to have chunks of fruit you can use a potatoes masher to mash them down then strain them through sieve.
